A superb setting for wine tourism

Visit, taste, discover

Château Franc Mayne offers visitors a unique wine tourism opportunity throughout the year, with a chance to enter and learn about the spectacular underground world of its two hectares of quarries.

Visitors start with a tour of the vineyard and winery, learning about work at the property and how Château Franc Mayne’s wines are made. The visit continues in the old stone quarries, the central part of the tour.

One of the largest in the appellation that are open to the public, this underground network of tunnels is the property’s most unusual feature.

The tour ends with the magic of the barrel-ageing cellar, the key to understanding the identity of Château Franc Mayne’s wines. Armed with this knowledge, visitors are able to fully appreciate the wine tasting that follows!

Staying at the Relais Franc Mayne

Entirely renovated in 2019, this delightful 18th century residence has five guest rooms, including a tree-house in one of the ancient cedars that surround the building. Decorated with elegance and simplicity, the rooms have the atmosphere of a traditional Gironde house in the vineyards.

From the house, visitors benefit from a panoramic view of the wine landscape that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the windows, you can even see horses working on some of the plots in the vineyard.

Depending on time and the season, a terrace, lounge and billiard room are available. In complete harmony with the garden, the swimming pool is ideal for a refreshing swim on hot summer days.

A great place to relax and get away from it all, the Relais Franc Mayne welcomes its guests with a friendly, family atmosphere.

Hidden among the vines

Château Franc Mayne is to the north-west of Saint-Emilion, 1 km from the centre of the village by the paths through the vineyards of this legendary Bordeaux appellation. Bordered by an ancient Roman road, the property exudes peace and tranquillity. A 16th century coaching inn on the Santiago de Compostela route reflects a long tradition of hospitality at the site: it has always been a haven of peace, a place to rest, away from the main road.

In this delightful, authentic setting, one finds nature everywhere. Here you can explore, relax, share, and take the time to enjoy the special château atmosphere.

Stay at the Relais Franc Mayne and experience the world of wine in the privacy of a wine property.
